
Paramedic/firefighter Richard J. Tiffany died on Monday evening, November 17, 2003 at 5:50 p.m. while performing his scheduled physical training at Clark County Fire District 12's downtown Ridgefield station. Richard had just completed a run on the treadmill when he collapsed. Lt. Gary Deschand, who was also doing physical training with Richard, called 911 and began CPR. The 35 year old had been a firefighter/paramedic for Fire District 12 since May 2003 and was a paramedic in Clark County for over 10 years having worked for North Country Emergency Medical Services, American Medical Response, and Fire District 11. He was a member of Clark County Firefighters Local 4229.
Richard Tiffany, 35 died November 17, 2003 in Ridgefield. Richard was born February 4, 1968 in Elgin, Illinois. He moved to Battle Ground, Washington in 1985. He worked as a firefighter paramedic for Clark County Fire District 12. He also worked as a paramedic for American Medical Response (AMR) and North Country Emergency Medical Services (NCEMS) based out of Yacolt, Washington. He served his country, in the Navy from 1986-1990 as an award winning Aviation Electronics Technician and received an honorable discharge.

Tiffany enjoyed camping, hiking, rafting and game playing with his wife, sons, and extended family. He had a passion for reading spiritually uplifting and motivational books of all kinds. His positive attitude was felt by all with his distinctive and infectious laughter; he shared with the world so freely.
Tiffany was preceded in death by his father, Richard George Tiffany in 1973. Survivors include wife, Lea Ann (Francis) Tiffany and sons, Richard and Jonathan Tiffany of Battle Ground; mother Peggy Stark of Elgin, Illinois; brother Paul Tiffany of Vancouver; sisters Anne Tiffany of Elgin, Illinois, Carol Hall of Minot North Dakota, and Julie Kelly of Elgin, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins by the dozens.
Tiffany was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Alpine Heights ward, where he participated in the scouting program and young men's leadership organizations.
