Commissioner Larry Bartel graduated from University of Washington with a BA in business. He is an Executive Fire Officer from the National Fire Academy and has an Associate Degree in Fire Science. Commissioner Bartel was born and raised in Ridgefield. He has been married to Susan for 40 years and they have three lovely daughters. He has 33 years’ experience in the fire service from volunteer firefighter to Fire Chief.

Bob Johnson

Commissioner Bob Johnson has been a Fire Commissioner since 1992. He spearheads the department’s juvenile firesetter intervention program which aims at identifying and counseling young children who have shown tendencies towards firesetting behavior. Additionally, Commissioner Johnson serves as a representative on the Fairground Fire Facility Board. Commissioner Johnson works for the Department of Transportation and is also a consultant on law enforcement and accident investigation issues. He lives in the Battle Ground area with his wife, Wilma. They have a grown son and daughter, and three grandchildren.

Dave Lester
Commissioner Dave Lester has owned and operated Topper Industries, Inc. since 1977. He holds a BS degree in business administration from Portland State University. Before 1977, he worked as an industrial and production engineer for the extrusion and the conductor division for Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA).  He lives in Woodland with his wife, Judy.  He has three children and five grandchildren.  He lived in Clark County since 1948 and is involved in Woodland politics.

Commissioner Dave Town has been married for 39 years to his wife Debbie (Tabor) Town. They have two children and five grandchildren.  He has been retired for five years and a member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades for 42 years. Commissioner Town has a background of a volunteer fire fighter and a fire commissioner with Fire District 12. He was born in Vancouver, Washington and has been active in community activities since he and his wife moved to the Ridgefield area in 1975.
